Monivea vs Castlebar U-13 Match report 16/11/19

Moving up from mini to youth at 13's level is always tough, our u-13 have now found the winning formula and we are sure it will last.

Monivea U-13's travelled to Castlebar on Saturday afternoon. Monivea scored first with Dylan Wynn picking from the base of the scrum outside their 22 and powering over. Castlebar equalised straightaway, but Monivea responded well and played some great rugby, playing over 25 phases before Oisin Meehan drove over, but the try was disallowed for a double movement. But on their next attack, flanker Colm O Rourke chipped over the Castlebar defence and plucked the ball out of the air from above the fullback to score. Monivea got the next try with hooker Oisin Meehan getting in the corner after some great forward play. Castlebar replied with a try before half time to leave the score 15-10. Second half was very even with Castlebar scoring midway through the half after Mona had defended their line well for a long period of time. With the game in the balance, Monivea won it with a set play again off the back of a scrum, Dylan Wynn gaining 40 yards before the backs moved the ball out and Daithi Concannon getting in under the posts. Conversion by Conor Curran. Castlebar tried to find an reply in the last couple of minutes but the Monivea defence would not give in. Final score Castlebar 15-Monivea 22
