U14 League

Monivea 22-29 Dunmore

With 9 players out due to illness & injury, a 14 side game was agreed before kick off. A dominant start from Monivea who held possession for the first 5 minutes was undone by coughing up a knock on in miserable conditions, 4 missed tackles led to Dunmore in under the posts 0-7.

Straight from the kick off, Monivea heads weren't quite switched on & again Dunmore were in under the posts 0-14. After some encouragement to get back to playing their own game, a fantastic break & powerful drive from Garvin O'Sullivan, on his first appearance after a return to play protocol was followed, handed the ball to Adam Quinn who put it on a plate for Jalique Cesiko to finish - conversion missed 5-14. Straight from the kick off, Shane Costello had had enough of being tackled & broke through with a drive to the line thwarted at the end but again that man Jalique Cesiko was there to profit - conversion missed 10-14. After a touch & go period in the middle of the pitch, Sean Doggett had finally laced up his running boots & sprinted for home from his own 22 for an interception try (for those that follow this under 14s, this is hopefully a break through moment for one of the counties fastest runners).

Jack Jordan added the extra 2, 17-14. Jack Dillon kicked to touch to bring the first half to a close, right call but missed opportunity to take a drop goal attempt.

Second half started with Dunmore right in under the posts from Monivea not switching on quick enough 17-19. With Monivea back on top, a penalty was given to monivea on the 22, with the coach screaming to go to the corner, Jack Dillon took a quick tap and after a couple of passes, yes that man Jalique Cesiko finished off his hat trick in the corner. 22-19.

The numbers game took its toll in the last 15 with Dunmore able to use their extra 10 men and finish off the game with 2 unconverted tries. A final push from monivea saw a heavy kick for the corner run into touch & not into the on rushing Sean Doggetts hands. Final score 22-29 for a Dunmore win.

A truly fantastic watch for all the support. Shame there had to be a loser with even words from Dunmore coach after the game, speaking to the Monivea lads & saying it was the toughest match they played all season.

18.5 League

Monivea 25-17 Corinthians

Great win today. Puts us still in the mix to make semi final spot. Went 3 nil up with a penalty. Then 7 - 3 down. We came back to dominate the rest of the first half. 25 - 7 at half time. We went through a lot of good phases and made good decisions on the field. Corinthians came back into in the second half and scored two trys. Our defensive line was good and our set piece was solid. Plenty to work on, Sligo away next Sunday. Thanks for all your support today.
