Monivea vs Castlebar J1A league 10/11/2019

Venue Monivea

10/11/19

On a very bitter cold day

Monivea welcomed Castlebar to the Castlegrounds

With changes to the Monivea starting panel before Kickoff sees Paul Cooley replace Fergus Killarney at number 6 and Darren Blade to wear the number 18 jersey.

A series of knock ons by the Monivea men sees the Castlebar men successfully kick for the posts on 3 occasions .

Leaving the Monivea men reeling and with a 15 min try also .

Leaves the scoreline Castlebar 16

Mona 0

At the halftime whistle

It was the Monivea men who should have came out of the dug out stronger but with Castlebar going over the try line first in the second half .

Was it to far of a gap for Mona to close .

It was Mark Flaherty who was going to begin to close the gap with a powerful pushed over try in the 15 min of the second half.

23 Castlebar

7 Mona

A huge knock to Ger Warde sees Ger have to leave the Game early.

This was to add to misfortune of the Monivea men but they were determined to stay with it and not give up.

A poor defensive lines on Monivea behalf let the visitors through to the try line again.

30 Castlebar

7 Mona

But fight on the Monivea men did against the odds

It was from the bench that the tries were to come from with the introduction of Liam Burke and Rory O Connor both running in tries in the latter of the second half.

To even up the scoreline at the end of the game

Castlebar 37

Mona 21

A day of handling errors and poor defensive by the Monivea men was the way the day could be summed up.

Even up to the last minute when a handling error by the Monivea men which could have gained them a losing point went wrong.

It was a day that the Monivea Men have to put behind them and to regroup.

And by the signs at the end of the game when a team talk amongst themselves as players .

We are sure that Monivea will no doubt bounce back from this stronger than ever and its beware from now on for their opponents

THAT IS CERTAIN !!!

Up Mona
