Saturday 23rd November 2:30pm kick-off, A minute silence for Kevin Maher's Grandad who sadly passed away our thoughts are with the Maher family.
Game starts and both teams are playing hard,Monivea secure possession and a good pass from Lee Scott to Kevin Maher he breaks thru the Gort defence to score the first and convert too 7-0,Finnian Murray makes a Good run but is tackled hard on the center line Monivea hold possession and rucking it to the Gort 22 Finnian joins in the line and receives from Raphael Patrickson and Finnian scores a great try converted by Kevin Maher 14-0 . Gorts forwards secure possession and Aiden Duffy for Gort finds a gap and scores and converts 14-7.gort come again and score in the left corner 14-12, Ball is changing hands in fierce battle and Declan Cunney cleans up and dummies the gort fullback to score Kevin converts 21-12, Olin Murray puts in a crunching tackle and Gort loose possession olin takes a mighty kick and it's chased by Jack connelly and Gort, with great soccer skills Jack kicks the ball ahead of him 3 times and dives on it for a try 26-12, Gort come back at Monivea and score 26-17,kevin Briggs makes a crucial tackle and Jack connelly gets the ball and runs up the wing supported by Ben Ward and kevin maher in a 3 v 1 Kevin receives and scores 31-17, Gort press Monivea again and and score a try and convert 31-24, Monivea restart and secure possession from a knock-on,Arron ford tackles and Ethan blyth slipped inside the Gort fullback and scores converted by Kevin 38-24, Gort play hard and are seeking more scores. Patrick mcgovern and Ronnie Paprocka put in some great tackles and Ryan Hickey floors the Gort 8 and Cian Brady cleans up moving the ball past the half-way line Ben Ward passes to Raphael Patrickson to Arnas Pozerauskes who's tackled hard by two Gort forwards , Gort push for the Monivea try line and after 12 phases score on full time but miss conversion Final score 38-29. A good game from the gorts players and well done to the Monivea u16s for a great performance
